First book in my Summer Reading Series and it's a good one!

Book Talk Blurb

Elyse grew up with a rare disorder (CAV) in which anything someone says about her becomes visible on her skin. Nice words such as awesome and cool feeling soothing to Elyse. But mean words such as weirdo and loser itch like crazy. Everyone in elementary school new about CAV but now that she's in Middle School Elyse wants to keep things quite. Sadly kids can be cruel and Elyse is having a very itchy year. Not only that but her best friend and protector Jeg has left her to hang out with the cool kids. But when mysterious letter begin to show up encouraging Elyse to be the Sixth Grade Explorer leader Elyse begins to realize that just because things can be hard doesn't mean you need to hide who you are.

Review

I absolutely loved this book! It's a great tale of accepting your uniqueness and not letting others stop you from being you. Elyse is a great protagonist and would definitely recommend this to students and teachers.

There was a point in their where I was worried that Elyse was going to have a major set back and have to overcome it but it didn't really happened it was just one uplifting thing after another with just a minor hiccup that instead of setting her back propelled her forward. I was also worried that it was going to end up a tear jerker but I just got a little misty eyed.
